1. For my commitment with Pep Band, I felt like I could've done better. I came to all of the required, and one of the volunteer. Unfortunately, I had to miss a volunteer one due to a dentist appointment. :( I would give myself a B-. This is because first of all I basically only came to required games out of pure laziness, and that's definitely not an excuse. Also because I didn't do my best at Pep Band, and sometimes it was something as silly as couldn't keep with the band, or loosing count of beat or something like that. Or a binder falling, also some of the sheet music is printed extremely small, and the lighting isn't the best up on the stage but that isn't Ms. Chase's fault. I just felt like I was fine in the band room rehearsing, but when we would go up there, I just couldn't play right. I was also kind of afraid of letting out a wrong note, and everyone would hear it, so I often played quietly to prevent that from happening. Overall, I for sure could've gave it more effort when it came to commitment and performance.
2. I would have to say yes it is an important element. I think this because it really gets us involved with the basketball games, and also, it kind of shows the other schools that just because we're a small school, doesn't mean we can't do things like Pep Band. Yes, maybe we have a smaller band, but in the end it doesn't matter. This is because we rehearse all of these songs during class, and we practice until they are acceptable to play, and we put all this work in, and its just alwasy a fun time playing modern songs that people know. Another reason is so it gives the band students more experience in somewhere else than the classroom. If you think about it, students that go off to college and decide to play band, they will most likely have to play at a sports game. So then, it gives us more of a visual of Pep Band. I know when I thought of Pep Band for the first time, all I could imagine was the Spongebob episode where Squidward puts together a marching band, and I had no idea what to think. Now looking back at that, I'm super glad that I decided to try my hardest in Pep Band :)
3. My top three have got to be Lady Gaga, Wipe Out, and Livin' on a Prayer. I like these especially because they have a great beat for the trumpets, and we all sound good together during these songs. I get chills when we play Lady Gaga, like it just sounds super good when the 1st Trumpets play the solo part, and we just recently got the solo part too :) I like Wipe Out a lot because of how it sounds, and its not hard to play, or easy. Its kinda in the middle for me, and its entirely fun to play and we play it together really well in my opinion. Livin' On a Prayer is probably my favorite. This is because I know the song, and its always fun to play songs yourself that you already know. Also, when Mike plays the guitar for this one, I just feel like it really just brings us together to play the song beautifully.
4. I know its not a measure per say, but honestly the entire song "Land of 1000" was really difficult to play, because its extremely small, and it was just really fast. Also there were several accidentals, so I had to figure out a way to get used to that, and I would often get lost. By the end of Pep Band Season, I feel like I improved a lot, because I got to hear Kara, and Riane and Jake play it so well, and I just started to get used to it more, but it's still probably one of the more complicated ones for me.
5. I would add would be Starships by Nicki Minaj :)
